The second annual Bahía Príncipe Golf Open was a total success. This year's event was held at the Riviera Maya Golf Club, a wonderful course with extraordinary features designed by Robert Trend Jones II in the heart of the Riviera Maya. The tournament was buzzing with excitement.

The registration and welcome reception the night before was the preface for what is becoming the region’s most anticipated tournament. Breakfast was served the following morning at the Club House for the more than 100 players, followed by an 8:00 am tee off.

The tournament was an out-and-out party. There was fun, lots of skill, and a great atmosphere of camaraderie among the players who enjoyed the several unlimited food and beverage stations set up along the course for them as they played. What's more, each of the 18 holes had a sponsor who offered some sort of activity to make play along the course truly entertaining.

The awards ceremony was accompanied by an exquisite meal where prizes were raffled off and awards were presented to the winners.

The first place was the team made up of Marina Grassi, Gustavo Segrove & Jose Luis Ortega, in second place were Kirby Dixon, Marilyn Dixon & Joe Kuffner and third place was taken by Almada Castillo, Juan Carlos García & Ulises Alfaro.

The prize for Drive Precision – Hole 10 went to Skip Stove, Ricardo Barton & Rogelio Dos Santos; the prize for Longest Drive – Hole 14 was won by William Karam, Antonio Kanahuatl & Ricardo Carrillo; Closest to the Pin – Hole 2 went to Sergio de la Torre, Nadim Ali & Camilo Abedrop; Closest to the Pin – Hole 5 was won by Kirby Dixon, Marilyn Dixon & Joe Kuffer; and Closest to the Pin – Hole 17 went to Tomas Capella, Eric Littler & Javier Montero.

Over half the participants walked away with something, whether a prize for their performance on the course or a gift from the raffles that were held during the awards ceremony.

And speaking of serious prizes, for the first time at a tournament in the Riviera Maya, participants had the chance to win a luxury apartment for the player who got a hole-in-one on hole 15. A red carpet invited participants to take their best shot in hopes of being handed the keys to their new Terrazas apartment courtesy of Bahía Príncipe Residences & Golf.

Similarly, a 2018 BMW awaited the player who got a hole-in-one on hole 17. Players could also win a Raymond Weil watch worth over 100,000 pesos on hole 5 or a Golf Club Car golf cart on hole 2. That’s in addition to the prizes for closest to the pin and longest drive, as well as prizes and trophies for first, second, and third place.

Tablets, Smart TVs, GoPro cameras, Oakley sunglasses, golf equipment, and stays at Bahía Príncipe hotels were just some of the many prizes that were handed out during the awards ceremony.

“We close another year of the Bahia Principe Golf Open very satisfied with the level of participation, which makes us want to do even better next year. We're already thinking about how to exceed expectations for the Bahia Principe Golf Open 2018. The tradition lives on,” said Rodrigo Padilla, the Marketing Director of Bahía Príncipe Riviera Maya Residences & Golf.
