Another major signing for Bahia Principe, this time in the Bahia Principe Golf department: Professional golfer Mario Bedia from Spain is coming to Riviera Maya Golf Club to join our team.

Mario Bedia Traspuesto was born in Pedreña, Cantabria, in 1977. He began playing golf as a child and his teachers include golfing legend Severiano Ballesteros. He turned professional at 22, standing out for his elegant swing and powerful stroke

As a young golfer he received a CAR Grant (for excellence and high performance) from the Royal Spanish Golf Federation; he was part of the Spanish Golf Team for six years, taking part in the Mediterranean Games and several renowned tournaments worldwide, and traveling to countries such as Japan, Scotland, England, Portugal, Switzerland, Peru and many more. He was also part of the Cantabria Golf Team at all levels, where he has worked as a Coach and Trainer.

As an elite player he has won: Silver medal at the World Championship in Tokyo and the Mediterranean Games in Bari, Italy, and third place at the European Championships in England and Portugal. His talent and career led Mario to be invited by Severiano Ballesteros to play at the “European Tour” Spanish Open.

Mario is still an active player today and he is a “Professional Master,” an accreditation he uses to convey his knowledge to new generations who want to enjoy and learn golf at the “Golf Natural Guidance” Academy, using the method devised by Toni Planells, at the Riviera Maya Golf Club.
